These maple bourbon cherries are perfect for cocktails and filling or topping your favorite summer desserts.
Once pits are removed from cherries, place them in a 16 oz mason jar.
In a sauce pan, bring the water, maple and orange peel to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Pour liquid into measuring or batter bowl and allow to cool for 10 minutes, before adding bourbon.
Pour mixture over the cherries, cover, and chill in fridge for at least 2 hours before using.
Cherries may be stored in fridge for up to one week.
