I recently worked with a coaching client who said she struggled with making filling and nutritious breakfasts and it made me realize I only had one breakfast recipe on the blog. It inspired me to start photographing some of the “normal” meals I make in my work week so that I can share more practical breakfast and lunch ideas. One of my favorite things things to eat for breakfast right now is a well-topped yogurt bowl.
Many people seem to struggle with breakfasts, whether because of their work schedule or simply because they aren’t sure what to eat. But eating a nourishing breakfast is important, whether it happens when you first wake up of later in the morning. Making a yogurt bowl is quick and easily portable if you’re someone that must eat breakfast on the go. Just mix it up in a mason jar and through it in your bag for later!
The best part of a yogurt bowl? All the toppings. Things like nuts, seeds, coconut shreds, cacao nibs, fruits and natural sweeteners. This blueberry flaxseed bowl has the obvious blueberries and flaxseeds, but also sunflower seeds, coconut flakes, maple syrup and cinnamon. Adding heaping scoops of nuts and seeds is a great way to get your daily intake of omega fatty acids. Plus they add a nice crunch!
While I used sunflower seeds and flaxseeds in my bowl, you can add and substitute nuts and seeds to your liking! And any fruit could be used in lieu of blueberries. Or you can try sweetening the bowl with honey instead of maple syrup if you lean towards team honey. Point being: yogurt bowls are a blank canvas! But if you’re someone looking for inspiration this recipe is a great place to start. Ready to start the day on a right foot? Keep reading for the recipe!
